Overwatch first released back in May of 2016 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and eventually came to the Nintendo Switch last month. It’s been enjoyed by many over the years for its gameplay, characters, and passion put in by the developers. 3 years after its release, not much has been added to the game besides events, skins, characters, and more smaller content.
Fans have wanted things like PvE and big expansions for a long time, and now we’re finally getting just that. After a report from ESPN and many teases over the years, Blizzard has finally announced Overwatch 2 at Blizzcon.
2 Different Trailers have been released, A Cinematic Trailer that explains the premise of Overwatch 2 and A Gameplay Trailer showing the UI, graphics, and gameplay differences from the original. You can check out both Trailers below:
Blizzard has added the traditional updates to Overwatch 2 such as new characters and maps, but have also added a brand new map type called Push.
New Maps – Toronto, Gothenburg, and Monte Carlo.

Blizzard has also gone into detail about the new mode “Push” as well.
In Push, a new, symmetrical map type that will launch with Overwatch 2, teams battle to take control of a robot that begins in a central location, then push it toward the enemy base. Either team may take control of the robot at any time. The team that pushes the robot furthest onto the enemy side wins the game.

As previously mentioned Blizzard has also announced PvE, with Co-op story missions.
Action-Packed Story Missions
Play an active role in the next chapter of the Overwatch saga through a series of intense four-player missions. Fight back against Null Sector, uncover the motives behind the omnic attacks, and confront a rising wave of new threats.
Replayable Hero Missions
The battle continues with Hero Missions. As escalating crises break out around the world, encounter an ever-changing array of scenarios with a range of diverse and dangerous enemies. Level up your favorite heroes and earn powerful customization options to help beat the odds.
New Factions Arise
It’s up to you and your friends to stop Null Sector, the elite forces of Talon, and other enemies of Overwatch from carrying out their plans. Each enemy faction features a unique mix of units with their own strategies and strengths, challenging you to adapt your approach every time you play.
Overwatch 2 also has an updated look to it with “more dynamic environments, larger scale battles, additional in-game storytelling events, and improved atmospheric effects and shadows”.
Certain Heroes in Overwatch have a completely updated look in Overwatch 2. Those characters are:

Speaking of Heroes, Blizzard has confirmed two new heroes coming to Overwatch called Sojourn and Echo, when they’ll be playable has yet to be revealed.

To top it all off, Blizzard has also announced that current Overwatch players will be able to play with Overwatch 2 players in PvP multiplayer. In addition, all Overwatch players collections (Skins, Emotes, Sprays, etc) will be carried over to Overwatch 2.

All this information for Overwatch 2 has me and many other Overwatch players excited for the future of the game, it’s gonna be an interesting ride to say the least.
