Pokémon Sword and Shield has become the fastest-selling Nintendo Switch Game in just under a week. The next installment in the Pokémon franchise has sold over 6 million copies worldwide since its release. The news was officially announced in a tweet from the Pokémon Twitter account.
In a Business Wire post, it was also announced Pokémon Sword and Shield sold just over 2 million copies in the first two days in the U.S., which would make it the highest-selling launch of any Pokémon game.
To comprehend how good the sales are, Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! sold 11.28 million copies last year. This year’s installment is already over halfway towards that in its first week.
I feel Nintendo has had one of it’s best years, software-wise. The releases of games such as Super Mario Maker 2, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and Luigi’s Mansion 3 has made this year one of Nintendo’s best, although I still think 2017 takes that honor.
