Exclusivity in Video Games is nothing new in this industry, especially this console generation. From games to actual in-game content, exclusivity is everywhere.
PlayStation has had tons of success with exclusivity with games like God of War, Spider-Man, The Last of Us Part II, Ghost of Tsushima, and much more available only on the PlayStation 4. They’ve even had exclusivity deals with other publishers like Rockstar Games.
With the news of Spider-Man being an exclusive character to those who own Marvel’s Avengers on PlayStation, it’s clear that Sony is still trying to get exclusivity for their platform wherever they feel necessary. With the recent Spider-Man news, you had to have thought that Sony & Crystal Dynamics had more up their sleeve and they do, but this time in the form of timed-exclusivity.
In the blog post, Crystal Dynamics Community Manager, Andy Wong discusses in-depth details about the community challenges and cosmetic items & abilities for Marvel’s Avengers. However, towards the end of the blog post, more exclusive content was announced for Marvel’s Avengers on PlayStation systems including PlayStation Plus benefits.
Crystal Dynamics Community Manager, Andy WongPlayStation players will have exclusive access to certain Community Challenges, where the PlayStation Nation will work together to accomplish a goal in order to gain rewards specific to them.
When it comes to cosmetics, PlayStation players will have 30-day exclusive access to a Legendary Outfit, Legendary Emote, Epic Takedown, and nameplate for each Super Hero as they are released – this is also for the six launch heroes. In addition, we also have rewards for those with a PlayStation Plus subscription. For each Super Hero added to the game post-launch, Hawkeye included, all PS Plus members will receive a free bundle that contains a Rare Outfit, nameplate, and 100 Credits to celebrate the addition of another Avenger to the roster. At launch, we’ll have a free bundle for Ms. Marvel available for PS Plus members to embiggen our love for Kamala!
When exactly these exclusive challenges and cosmetics will be released is anyone’s guess at this point, as is whether or not PlayStation and Crystal Dynamics have more up their sleeves in terms of exclusivity.
