Ghost of Tsushima Sells Nearly 2 Million Digital Copies in Two Weeks

Ghost of Tsushima was released on PlayStation 4 just over a month ago and was met with mostly positive opinions from fans and critics alike. Sucker Punch hadn’t released a game since 2014, with the goodwill the studio has built up with its fans plus the interest in a new IP, Ghost had all the tools it needed to succeed.

And succeed it did, a few weeks ago it was announced that Ghost of Tsushima sold 2.4 million copies in its first 3 days and became the fastest-selling new IP for PlayStation. That’s the only record that was broken though, In an article from GamesIndustry.Biz, it was revealed that Ghost sold 1.9 million copies digitally in its first two weeks.

This not only makes it the fastest-selling new IP for PlayStation in terms of digital sales but Ghost of Tsushima is now the largest console game launch in the month of July for digital sales.

As a fan of Sucker Punch going back to the original Infamous on PlayStation 3, I’m so happy for the studio as a whole. We know that we’ll be seeing more of Ghost of Tsushima later this year when the Legends Multiplayer is released later this year, so it won’t be too long until we see more from Sucker Punch’s open-world samurai.

Ghost of Tsushima is out now on PlayStation 4.
