Returnal was revealed back at the PlayStation 5 Reveal Event in June of 2020. The game is being developed by Housemarque previously known for their work on games such as Resogun, Alienation, and Nex Machina. Their last title was released over 3 years ago and since then they’ve been working on this roguelike third-person shooter.
The game was set for release on March 19, 2021, now that has officially been pushed back by a little over a month. Sony and Housemarque have decided to delay Returnal to April 30, 2021, to give the game more time for polish.
One has to wonder how this affects other Sony releases. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was set for release in early 2021. While nothing is concrete at this time, it makes you wonder if Rift Apart was pushed back into the Summer to give Returnal it’s own release window and also giving Insomniac more time to polish the game as well, only time will tell.
Returnal is set for release on April 30, 2021, on PlayStation 5.
