Nintendo has had a tremendous year in terms of hardware and software success. Nintendo Switch has officially sold close to 80 million units in almost 4 years. Games like Paper Mario: The Origami King, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, & Hyrule Warriors were released and had tons of success. However, none were more successful than the juggernaut that is Animal Crossing: New Horizons which has sold over 30 million units in under a year.
To put it shortly, Nintendo has been riding high for a while. Their major announcements came in the form of social media posts or mini Nintendo Directs. It’s been a while since we’ve seen a traditional Nintendo Direct where we get numerous announcements on all of Nintendo’s upcoming titles at once. That drought seems to be over as Nintendo jas announced a Nintendo Direct set to premiere tomorrow (as of this writing) at 2:00 p.m. PT/5:00 p.m. ET.
The direct will feature a look at new info for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch in the first half of 2021. One has to wonder if there’s a possibility that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel will be shown in any capacity on this Direct. We haven’t heard anything about the game since its initial reveal back at E3 in 2019, so that’s something to consider.
What are you hoping to see on the Nintendo Direct?
