PlayStation Showcase Officially Confirmed

PlayStation has been relatively quiet on “What’s Next” for a little while now. Ever since the Horizon Forbidden West State of Play, we’ve barely seen anything new from their first-party studios. Many suspected we’d get a new showcase sooner or later and now we have our answer.

A PlayStation Showcase has officially been announced for this Thursday, September 9th at 1pm PT/4pm ET. The showcase will broadcast live on Twitch and Youtube.

In a PlayStation Blog post, we were clued in on what to expect during the showcase.

The Showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes and include updates from PlayStation Studios and some of the industry’s most imaginative developers, for games releasing this holiday and beyond. And stick around after the presentation to get more updates from some of the studio teams featured in the Showcase.

One thing to note: PlayStation’s next generation of VR won’t make an appearance this time. But there will still be plenty of great PS5 games from developers large and small. We hope you can join us!

Sid Shuman, Senior Director of SIE Content Communications

One has to expect we’ll finally see some actual footage for the next God of War. As well as a brief new looks at Horizon Forbidden West and Death Stranding Director’s Cut before their respective releases. There’s also the possibility of updates from PlayStation Studios such as Pixelopus, Bend Studio, Naughty Dog. No one knows what to expect from third-party developers but if I had to guess, we’ll probably see Kena: Bridge of Spirits and possibly a look at GTA 5: E&E coming in November to PS5 & Xbox Series X|S.

What do you hope to see during the PlayStation Showcase?
